Well, one thing is for sure. The town of Onslow knows how to throw a party!
There is nothing we love more that a bit of glitz and glam that accompanies a Las Vegas themed gala event. So taking a photo booth to Onslow, regional Western Australia, was always going to be a lot of fun when we first got the brief.
As far as we know, this was the first time that the town had seen a photo booth in Onslow.
And the verdict? They loved it!
Travelling to Onslow from Perth involved a two hour flight from Perth to Karratha followed by a three hour drive south to Onslow.
Onslow is a town of 800 residents, so to have a crowd of over 100 attending the Onslow 2020 Annual Gala event was a event represented a large portion of the towns population.
We teamed up with the crew at Viva Las Vegas Casino hire for the drive who provided a black jack and roulette table along with a Las Vegas sign to really give the event a Las Vegas buzz. Chatting to Michael the owner of Viva Las Vegas in Perth it is clear that his team are not only experienced dealers, but have a passion for the thrill of the gaming experience for their guests. Not to mention Perth’s largest range of casino gaming table hire in Perth.
The Shire of Ashburton hosted the event for the Onslow Community and pulled together a great range of entertainment options for the guests which included our Vintage Photo Booth, gaming tables by Viva Las Vegas, Show Girls, the band – Shakedown – who kept the dance floor pumping throughout the evening, and Karratha photographer Felicity Ford Photography who took some great shots on the night that you can see right here in this blog.

The Las Vegas Show Girls welcomed guests on arrival, and certainly looked the part mingling with the crowd in impressive feathered costumes. The Show Girls put on a great show for the guests and were certainly popular when they came to the photo booth for some shots with the guests.
Shakedown were not your average pub band. They kept the dance floor pumping during every set. Provided by Grand Stand Agency, Shakedown offered female and male vocals, keyboard on top of guitar, bass and drums to offer a wider than expected set list of rock, pop and classic tracks to suit a diverse audience. This was Shakedown’s second trip for the annual Onslow Gala event which speaks to how well they were recovered. They also had a bit of fun with us in the photo booth as you can see below:
All of the suppliers were great fun to work with and credit has to go to Sheree from the Shire of Ashburton for pulling together such a professional and great bunch of people to support the event. As always, the photo booth was a hit. We have worked a number of events with a Pilbara Photo Booth now, including a Las Vegas themed event last year where we supplied a photo booth in Karratha. Whilst regional work can be logistically challenging, they are always great fun and the event organisers benefit from our experience in delivering hundreds of events a year throughout Western Australia.
We loved our trip to Onslow, and can’t wait to join them again next time they need a Pilbara Photo Booth.
